Spring is in the air and what better way to celebrate the season of love than spending six Monday evenings steeped in romance. With the Romance genre outselling all of its competitors, publishing the most books each year, and having the most loyal fan-base worldwide, it represents the easiest path to publication. Whether you are just a reader, have ideas but are not sure where to start, or are in the process of writing a manuscript, "Romance Novel 101" will lovingly lead you through each writing and publishing stage. In addition to those interested in the romance genre, this course also offers useful information for fiction and non-fiction writers in general.
Topics to be discussed include, but are not limited to: understanding the elements of a Romance novel, Romance sub-genres, idea generation, plot structure, the Hero and Heroine, writing dialogue, relationships and resolutions, manuscript revision, marketing, submission guidelines, rejection, and detailed information on publishing opportunities (including self-publishing and e-books). This course is offered in a relaxed and practical atmosphere, but focuses on positive results. Please be assured that all course material will be addressed with tact and according to the audience. Thematic and seasonal door prizes will be given away and a certificate is awarded upon course completion.
A free example novel is provided to each student, so all you need to bring each Monday evening is a notebook, pen/pencil, and passion!
